OHS COMMITTEE REFRESHER TRAINING

It may have been some time since Committee members undertook their initial training and need to be up-to-date with regulatory changes and developments. This course can also be used as a follow-up to improve the skills of Committee Members and OHS representatives and the effectiveness of the Committee in the workplace.

Content

  • Identify the characteristics of an effective OHS committee
  • Development of an OHS Management program
  • Identify and prioritise OHS issues affecting the workplace
  • Identify factors that inhibit an effective committee
  • Develop strategies to overcome these factors
  • Develop an action plan model

Award

A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the completion of the course.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course participants should be able to:

  • Identify the main provisions of the legislation governing health and safety in the workplace
  • Describe a dispute settling and discipline process for preventing operational level industrial and OHS grievances escalating into wider disputes
  • Describe how the day-to-day aspects of an organisation’s OHS program can be managed within the OHS systems approach used by the organisation
  • Apply knowledge of Injury Management and Worker’s Compensation provisions to streamline an organisation’s compensation system
