Manage Workforce Planning



This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to complete and implement a plan for workforce strategies to achieve organisational goals. It includes aligning the number, skills and development of the workforce with business plans and the ability to analyse the relevant labour markets, design recruitment and succession plans to ensure a competent and diverse workforce.

Human resources managers and staff as well as other managers concerned with planning the level and skills needed for the effective current and future operation of the organisation. 


Course Content

  • Determing the appropriate structure for the organisatsion
  • Assessing supply and demand -- the need for staff and its availability
  • Develop staffing objectives and strategies -- aligning recruitment, training and other staff development
  • Preparing a staffing plan, including succession planning
  • Implement initiatives to support the staffing plans
  • Monitor and evaluate workforce trends and the needs of the organisation


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • Review business and operational plans to determine staffing needs
  • Analyse existing workforce to identify areas of shortage and excess staff
  • Review organisation requirements for diversity in the workforce
  • Research and review the current external labour market situation and align it with organisational needs
  • Establish objectives for the retention and modification of existing staff
  • Define strategy to retain existing labour and find new sources of labour
  • Deal with feedback in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Document and support decisions with management
  • Participants will be provided with appropriate methods and tools to plan and implement appropriate staffing levels, structures and succession planning



A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the completion of the course.
