Organisations today must respond to a variety of external and internal pressures. One way an organisation may respond to such pressure is to make changes to structure and/or operations. Depending on the circumstances, a change may result in the redundancy of a position. Unfortunately, redundancies are not risk free actions. Employers need to be confident that positions they make redundant are selected appropriately, and that their process meets any legal requirements. Unfortunately, these requirements can be quite complex and difficult to understand, and failure to meet even one could expose employers to costly claims.

Delivered by AFEI and AFEI Legal, this webinar will explain the legislative framework that regulates restructuring and redundancy. In addition, it will also examine both the ways in which employers can select positions for redundancy, and the legal requirements of a genuine redundancy as defined under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). This webinar will also explain how to determine employee redundancy entitlements.
